There are three Botanical Art classes every week.

The classes on Tuesday PM & Friday PM are suitable for total beginners and those who want to carry on to improve or revise their skills in the art of Botanical Painting & Drawing. The class on Friday AM is aimed to those with prior watercolour painting experience. (If you are unsure about your level it might worth starting from the Tuesday class).

All students will have individual and group tuition. During the course you will be shown how to produce; A good pencil outline of the chosen subject (flowers, leaves, vegetables, berries etc). The correct colour by mixing paints to obtain the correct colour required. Create depth and movement by use of tonal values. An even & precise watercolour wash. An acceptable way of correcting mistakes, it can be done !

Materials The list below is the ultimate, If you already have your own equipment then please bring whatever you have. We will discuss this during the first class.

Hot pressed paper (HP) 140lbs 300grms preferably in a block Da Vinci Kolinsky sable brush series 35 size 4 Expensive but the only brush you will need, an incredible point with a good belly to retain the paint Eraser, 2H & HB pencils (not for sketching)
Note book or sketchbook Ruler for margins Artist Quality Watercolours, basic colours.

PERMANENT ALIZARIN CRIMSON, SAP GREEN, ULTRAMARINE BLUE WINSOR YELLOW,WINSOR RED, OPERA ROSE, INDIGO, WINSOR VIOLET, all W&NA few sheets of Kitchen Paper.
