Botanical Arts (3-day)
Art Classes & Workshops
1-3 August: 10am-4pm
Open to all adults – some experience of painting would be helpful.
Tutored by Marica Hughes, a renowned local artist and experienced teacher, this 3 day course teaches techniques in watercolour painting and drawing, Botanical Art and Illustration. Flowers, foliage and plants are observed, and step-by-step demonstrations are included with an emphasis on accurate and realistic depiction. A selection of fresh and dried material will be available.
Core Skills
– Developing the skill of drawing accurately for Botanical painting
– Developing observational skills with an aim to render a realistic depiction
– Developing watercolour painting skills for Botanical Art
– Tonal contrasts and textures to create a 3D effect
– Composition and design to achieve a well-balanced result
Materials
Paper will be available for purchase from Marcia if required.
Pencils: HB and 2H and plastic rubber, palette, water container, kitchen paper roll and notebook.
Artist quality watercolours are recommended with a minimum of 6 basic colours: Sap Green, French Ultramarine Blue, Indigo, Alizarin Crimson, Winsor Yellow or Cadmium Yellow, Winsor Red or Cadmium Red.
A brush with a fine point is essential.
