Chinese Painting & Calligraphy

Open to all adults – no experience required.
Designed for anyone interested in Chinese Arts & Culture, in this course you will explore the foundations of Chinese Art & Calligraphy and build a basic understanding of how to create and interpret such artworks. By the end of the course, you will be able to use the appropriate painting tools in order to create your own art works.
You are welcome to join one of the blocks below, or join both blocks and continue your work on the 2nd block. The tutor will accommodate beginners and continuers.
- Understand the Chinese Culture through the practice of calligraphy and painting
- Understand the relationship between water, paper and ink
- Understand and learn to use the tools for Chinese Painting and Calligraphy
- Learn the basic strokes of Chinese words and meaning
Materials (provided to the students)
All art material provided such as rice paper, ink, and brushes.
Materials (required by the students)
Please bring 2 small containers (for colour mixing/brush washing) and newspapers. Students may need to purchase some Chinese painting materials (e.g. ink and rice paper and brushers ) if they want to practice at home by their own.
