Creative Collage (Spr23)

Duration: 2,5 hours

Start Time: 2pm

This course is open to everybody. You do not need to be able to draw to enjoy this course.

A fun vibrant course where students will gain the confidence in exploratory work and collage to aid them in further creative endeavours. This course will explore the creative process of collage story telling by combining a variety of techniques, using handmade papers, drawing, painting, stenciling, print and stitch along with found images and personal photographs to create a beautiful A3 artwork portraying a unique story.

STRUCTURE

Week 1: Introduction to artists working with collage and warm up – painting, printing, texture and line, creating reference sheets.
Week 2: Explore and create collage papers with pattern, print, stencilling, decoupage, text and stitch.
Week 3: Discuss story ideas or narrative for artwork, Introduction of personal or referenced photographic imagery, space and scale.
Week 4: Create small, explorative artworks using skills acquired. Start Canvas artwork.
Week 5/6: Canvas completion, discussion and photos.

MATERIALS LIST

Students do not need to bring anything with them. Please feel free to bring in any photographs, found imagery, magazine cuttings or sketches that you may want use.
