Cyanotype – Sunprinting

Open to all adullts with little or no experience.

Explore this alternative photographic process, with its distinctive Prussian blue colour. You will learn the basic skills required to create your own bespoke cyanotype sunprints. As this class is being run in the evening, there will be an opportunity to use a Ultra Violet Light Box that will mimic the UVL rays of the sun and therefor allow you to create your very own prints.

Learn the basic skills required to create your own cyanotype prints.
You will leave with your own prints from the course.
Learn a new and exciting photographic technique that you can use at home.

Week 1: Introduction, history, demystifying the Prussian Blue Printing techniques What is it? Basic techniques
Week 2: Developing ideas further, how to manipulate your prints Simple collage using your prints.
Week 3: Using different techniques to develop your prints further Incorporating, salt, water colours to enhance your prints
Week 4: Cyanotypes using tea staining, natural dyes Simple book making

Materials
Apron
Bring also with you dried plant materials, lace, fabrics, string, ribbons, in fact anything that you think you may be able to create an image

Glue stick
Graphite pencil
Notebook Pencils,
Sharpie Black
Paper scissors
Scalpel/Craft Knife
Notebook
Other useful items: Small water, Spray, Folder to take work home
