Drypoint Printmaking

Art Classes & Workshops

Date: 16 March 2023

Duration: 2.30 pm - 6pm (3.5hrs)

This workshop is suitable for the absolute beginner.

You will learn how to make a simple drypoint print using drypoint plastic. No need to be
an expert artist – simple tracing skills are all that's required! A selection
of images will be available for you to use as a starting point, or bring in one
of your own if you prefer (but remember the image will be reversed in the
print).

Drypoint is a printmaking process in which a design is drawn on a plate with a sharp, pointed needle-like instrument.

Gill will demonstrate how to etch drypoint plastic, how to ink up the plate using oil
based 'safe wash' inks and then print the plate 'intaglio' using the etching
press. Then over to you!
