Exploring Acrylic Painting – Extension Course

It is for those with some experience (at least one course of acrylics).

The course will focus on, extending your development and experience of Acrylic painting techniques focusing on the use of texture as well as brush work and core skills. It is for those with some experience (at least one course of acrylics) and an ability to work some of the time independently. It will include homework and some preliminary work to be done before the class. Subjects will include, still life, landscape and abstract themes.

Week 1&2: Exploring Surfaces and Textures – Painting with and without brushes acrylic mediums using large brushes, knives, sponges and card to develop an impasto painting
Week 3: Using Objects – designing with still life items considering structure, shape scale and proportion
Week 4&5: Painting in the abstract – with focus on colour and mood

Material
Any acrylic materials you may already have
Pencil 2B
Large flat Acrylix brush size 12 or larger and smaller a round brush size 6
2 inch household paint brush
Set of Acrylics with palette and water containers
Slow dry medium ( not essential)
White Gesso ( not essential )
Tracing paper ( not essential)
Several Acrylic boards and/or Acrylic treated paper, minimum A3 size
Plastic or wood Palette
Painting knife plastic or metal and a sponge
Sand, PVA glue and old newspapers
Masking tape, scissors and ruler
Other unusual materials will be available to try when needed
