Exploring Acrylic Painting, Extension

Open to adults with some experience (at least one course of acrylics) and an ability to work some of the time independently. You will be extending your development and experience of Acrylic painting techniques.

The course focuses on the use of texture as well as brush work and core skills. It will include homework and some preliminary work to be done before the class. Subjects will include, still life, landscape and abstract themes

Core Skills
– Painting on a textured ground focusing on light and space in landscape from photos or sketches
– Design, form and shape – designing with still life items considering rhythm, repetition and colour relationships
– Painting in the abstract –– Make a personal journey exploring colour, space and movement

Materials
Any acrylic materials you may already have
Pencil 2B
Large flat Acrylix brush size 12 or larger and smaller a round brush size 6
Set of Acrylics with palette and water containers
Several Acrylic boards and/or Acrylic treated paper, minimum A3 size
Plastic or wood Palette
Painting knife plastic or metal and a sponge Sand, PVA glue and old newspapers
Masking tape, scissors and ruler
Other unusual materials will be available to try when needed
