Exploring Acrylic Painting (Aut22)

Delivered in 6-week blocks:
3, 10, 17, 24 Nov & 1, 8 Dec

Explore Acrylic painting techniques emphasis on use of texture and brush work Designed for all levels, core skills will be covered on how to develop a painting from surface to finished image.

Tutor: Bob Meecham

Structure
Week 1: Getting to know Materials, mixing with primary colours painting autumn leaves
Week 2: Tonal scales & colour contrasts – working with a limited palette using a toned ground – landscape drama of light and dark
Week 3: Exploring Textures – Painting without brushes acrylic mediums knives, sponges and card to develop an impasto painting – Buildings, walls and foliage
Week 4: Objective painting – understanding structure scale and proportion – still life
Week 5: Painting a Landscape – focus on brush work and composition
Week 6: Painting an abstract – with focus on colour and mood

Core Skills
• Composing and designing from basic forms from landscape to natural forms
• Practice in applying acrylic using a variety of techniques, and combining with other materials and media
• Experiment with various textures and surfaces to produce a range of different studies and styles both contemporary and traditional

Materials List 
Any acrylic materials you may already have, Pencil 2B, Large flat Acrylix brush size 12 or larger and smaller a round brush size 6, Set of Acrylics with palette and water containers, Several Acrylic boards and/or Acrylic treated paper, minimum A3 size, Plastic or wood Palette, Painting knife plastic or metal and a sponge, Sand, PVA glue and old newspapers, Masking tape, scissors and ruler, Other unusual materials will be available to try when needed.
