Hand Embroidery

Open to everybody who would like to learn the techniques of creative hand embroidery. You do not need to be able to draw to enjoy this course.Techniques of transferring images onto different textiles will be shown and you will learn a variety of styles for hand embroidery. The design element of the course will encourage you to explore images for stitch inspiration from your own photographs, found images or from drawings. You will be able to produce attractive hand embroidered textile images with simple designs that can be framed and presented in decorative ways.

Develop samples of stitches in a range of techniques including applique, gold work and surface embroidery.
Develop an understanding of how different textiles can be embroidered.
Learn how to transfer a design onto fabric.
Experiment with drawing to create your own unique embroideries.

Material
Students do not need to bring anything with them – unless they own their own embroidery frame (seat or floor). A small pair of sharp embroidery scissors, thimble if required. A range of material and threads will be available to buy from the tutor and embroidery frames will be available to borrow during the course.
