Mapping Your World with Art (2-day)

Open to all adults – no experience required. This class is for beginners, professionals and everyone in between!

A Map Making workshop where we explore the history of maps, mapping elements, design, drawing and lettering to create your own unique map. Finishing by binding the maps using a pop up Turkish Map fold, into covers. You can bring an idea with you, in previous workshops maps have been created of family holidays, a favourite walk, a home town, family farm, family trees, the list is endless.

This is an exciting and explorative class, map making can be quite addictive! You’ll be lead through all the stages of making your map by experienced Inksmith Chrissie Nicholls, who is a professional illustrator and hand lettering artist. Before the workshop decide if you’d like to do a memory map, an imaginary map or a map of an area you know well. You just need to bring your curiosity with you.

Materials
Basic art materials will be provided including paper, bindings, covers, colour pencils and drawing pens but if you would like to bring your favourite pens, pencils, watercolours or bone folder with you please do. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bone folder or know what one is! We will provide some to use.
