Printing Without a Press: Using Recycled Tetra Pak

Open to all adults with little or no experience.
The aim of this course is to teach you the basic skills of intaglio dry point printmaking. Intaglio printmaking is a printmaking method where you create marks and incisions of a plate (tetra pak). Ink is then applied and an image can then be printed onto dampened paper. This can all be created without the use of a press.
* You will explore different methods of mark making
* How to create a plate from recycled tetra pak
* Create a print without the aid of a press. This is a method that you will then be able to use at home.
Week 1: Basic introduction into to dry point intaligo printmaking One colour prints. You will also learn about inks and how to apply them successfully, including use of papers.
Week 2: Continuation and development of ideas and techniques. Enhancing prints using water colours/inks
Week 3: Introduction to chine colle and also collage. Conceptual blending
Week 4: Creating a final outcome of ideas. Simple book.
Materials
Bring with you tetra pak cartons such as milk, the ones that are silver coloured inside ( rinsed and clean)
Scapel blade
Graphite Pencils for Drawing
Sketchbook for ideas
Apron
Old magazines
Glue stick
Scissors
Newspaper
