Unleash your inner storyteller in this one-day screenwriting workshop! Screenwriting is both technical and creative. In this workshop we will look at the structure of stories and how screen stories differ from other forms of storytelling and writing.

We will explore the elements of a screenplay including structure, character development, genre and dialogue. This workshop is perfect for beginners with no prior experience. We will do writing exercises to help you get started on writing your own short film screenplay and by the end of the day you will have the confidence and inspiration to take your ideas forward.

  • What is a screenplay – structure, character development, genre and dialogue
  • Screenplay format – what is it and why does the industry use it?
  • Script to screen – read and watch
  • Writing exercises throughout the day

Materials (required by the students)
Bring a pen and a notebook. You will be writing!

Laptop or tablets optional but you might find these useful as we will also talk about screenwriting software and why it is important and helpful. There are lots of free screenwriting software options so do take a look here: https://www.scriptreaderpro.com/free-screenwriting-software/
