Create colourful, dynamic prints with hand-carved printing blocks. Join Ahista Stories for Block (Print) Big Fashion, where you’ll have access to a variety of traditional hand-carved wooden blocks from Sindh, Pakistan and non-toxic fabric inks to print on clothes or linen you already own.

You’ll get a taste of the rich heritage of Sindhi block printing and the importance of keeping low-emission printing and upcycling techniques alive.

This workshop includes:

An introductory talk on fashion’s waste crisis access to hand-carved wooden blocks inspired by nature and Islamic art support with design ideas guidance on aftercare.

This workshop is suitable for participants who have some experience with block printing or similar crafts, and participants are encouraged to bring their own cotton or linen items to print on.

Tutor Bio: 
Ahista Stories is a community-led platform building a fairer fashion system and celebrating South Asian textile artistry. Zainab Mahmood is a British Pakistani creative producer, facilitator and campaigner focusing on climate justice, garment worker rights and Palestinian liberation. Through curating and facilitating workshops under Ahista Stories, Zainab seeks to create dialogue around garment worker exploitation, textile waste and how South Asian heritage crafts go hand in hand with sustainability.
