Botanical Sketchbook (3-day)

Open to all adults, no experience required.

Do you enjoy sketching, and love plants?If so, drawing and painting in a botanical sketchbook will give you great satisfaction and lots of fun. Over the three days of this workshop we will explore the methods of making interesting and informative plant studies from life, in a variety of media and styles including pencil, watercolour and pen and ink.

Bring in your own plant material, or draw material brought into class by the tutor. If the weather permits, we may also sketch outside.

Be inspired by the work of tutor Lucy T Smith, a professional botanical artist with many years experience who will show examples from her own botanical sketchbooks.

Material
A sketchbook, ideal size A3 or A4, but if you have an existing sketchbook of any size, bring it! A heavy paper such as 160gsm or above is ideal.

Drawing materials
Pencils, and/or ink pens

Painting materials
Watercolour or coloured pencilsA ruler or dividers to measure with. A camera (a phone camera is adequate).

If you wish to work outdoors, a small folding stool.
