Through guided practice, you’ll create your own original artworks combining calligraphy and painting, while gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and aesthetics.

What you’ll explore:

  • The harmony between water, paper and ink
  • The form, rhythm and meaning of traditional Chinese characters

By the end of the course, you’ll:

This course is for:

  • Artists with some calligraphy or painting experience
  • Those at an intermediate or advanced level looking to further their techniques

Materials:
All essential materials are provided. This includes rice paper, ink, brushes and colours.
Students should bring two small containers for water/ink and some newspaper for your workspace. If you’d like to continue practicing at home, the tutor can also advise on where to purchase materials such as rice paper and ink.

What to wear:
We encourage you to wear dark clothing, as ink can stain.
