DIY Sound Production – Summer of Culture 2026

DIY Sound Production explores how rhythm, harmony and atmosphere can be created using sounds from the world around us. In this hands-on workshop, participants will use accessible tools such as smartphones, field recorders and laptops to learn the fundamentals of sound recording, audio editing and experimental music production through creative exploration.

The workshop includes a field recording session alongside guided editing exercises, encouraging participants to transform everyday sounds into original compositions and sound pieces. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, the session supports experimentation, listening and creative risk-taking while developing practical skills in sound design and audio manipulation.

Materials Required:

A laptop, phone or digital device to be used during the session.

Tutor Bio:

Luke Kulukundis is a London-based music producer, artist and filmmaker working across experimental music, sound and visual media. His productions have been broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and NTS, and his work has been performed internationally at venues and festivals including Reading and Leeds Festival, Pitchfork Paris, Village Underground and End of the Road.

Working across music and film, Luke’s practice explores collaborative and experimental approaches to sound-making through projects including trip hop collective Nukuluk and Foreign Body Productions. Alongside his own creative work, he collaborates with a wide range of artists from his South East London studio and currently tours with experimental group Snorkel and neo-jazz artist Divine Earth.
