Introduction to Crafting with Japanese Paper (1-day)

Open to all adults. Suitable for beginners – no experience required. Participants must be confident using sharp tools (awl, needles, scalpel).

Japanese washi papers are beautiful to work with in a variety of crafts. In this half-day workshop participants will learn:
• How to make a small sketchbook using Japanese stab-binding techniques and decorated with Japanese paper.
• How to make simple Japanese themed cards decorated with Japanese paper
• An introduction to iris folding

Materials (required by the students)
All materials and specialist tools are provided for use in the class. However, do bring along your own cutting mat and scalpel (with a fresh blade) if you prefer.

Tutor
Gill Smith is a local artist, printmaker, paper cutter and bookmaker who regularly exhibits here at The Landmark Arts Centre.
