Course Overview: 

Discover the art of hand embroidery in this welcoming evening course for beginners. Learn essential stitches and techniques, explore colour and texture, and create beautiful hand-stitched pieces in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Course Content: 

Guided by expert embroiderer Sophie Long, you’ll explore a range of traditional hand embroidery techniques and discover how they can be used to create contemporary embroidered pieces. Through practical projects, you’ll experiment with colour, texture and pattern while developing skills that can be applied to artwork, clothing, accessories and home textiles.

With step-by-step guidance in a friendly and supportive environment, you’ll create a selection of stitched samples/pieces to take home, leaving you with the confidence to continue your embroidery journey beyond the course or when you continue your creative journey with us the following term.

Materials and Equipment

Provided: 

• Embroidery frames
• Scissors to borrow during the course

You will not need to purchase anything before the course. If you have an ongoing embroidery project that you’d like help with, please feel free to bring it along.

What to Wear

No special clothing is required – just wear something comfortable.
