Introduction to Regency Dance – Summer of Culture 2026

Step into the dances of the Regency era in this lively, accessible workshop. Participants will explore historical dance through a combination of guided instruction, movement exercises and simple choreography inspired by forms such as the cotillion, quadrille and waltz.

The session includes an introduction to the context of the dances, followed by a warm-up, group learning and a cool-down. Suitable for beginners, the workshop focuses on rhythm, pattern and shared movement, offering a chance to engage with dance as both a social and creative practice.
 
Tutor Bio: 
Lucy Potter is a freelance dance teacher, choreographer and movement director, and the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Moving Stories Dance Company. Her work combines storytelling, rhythm and movement, drawing on a wide range of dance styles including jazz, ballet, contemporary, tap and Argentine tango.
Alongside her choreography and performance work, Lucy has extensive teaching experience across schools, conservatoires and community settings, working with participants of all ages and abilities. Her practice focuses on creativity, musicality and connection, creating welcoming environments where movement becomes a shared and expressive experience. Through workshops and performance, she encourages participants to build confidence, curiosity and enjoyment through dance.
