This course offers participants the opportunity to observe, connect with nature and create visual responses to the world around them through drawing and painting. Focusing on the power of observation, the workshop encourages participants to slow down, look more closely and capture the atmosphere and character of the landscape through creative practice.

The day will be spent exploring the banks of the River Thames, just a short walk from the Landmark Arts Centre. From tree-lined stretches to wildflowers and local wildlife, the riverside environment offers a rich source of inspiration for sketching and observation. The group will stop at Teddington Lock for lunch, where benches, tables and bathroom facilities are available. Participants should bring a packed lunch and dress practically for walking and working outdoors.

Drawing paper, boards, graphite pencils, pastels, charcoals, watercolours.

Materials Required:

Sketchbook, something to lean on, bulldog clips, graphite pencils (2B-6B), other drawing materials, watercolour paints, brushes, packed lunch, sunscreen, hat, jacket.
