Radical Care: Mending Clothes

Radical Care: Mending Clothes invites participants to explore clothing repair as a practical and reflective skill rooted in sustainability and care. In this workshop, participants learn core hand mending techniques using yarn, darning needles, and darning discs, working primarily with scrap fabrics such as old knitwear. The session focuses on extending the life of garments and encouraging more conscious relationships with the clothes and materials we use.

The session is designed to be accessible and supportive, with all core materials provided and a small group size allowing for individual guidance.

Participants leave with practical sewing skills that can be applied to their own wardrobes, alongside an understanding of how repair and maintenance can support more sustainable ways of living. The workshop also explores how care, repair, and attention can act as small but meaningful ways to engage with sustainability in everyday life.

Ticketing

Our tickets use a sliding scale model with three options: standard, concession, and pay-it-forward. Sliding scale pricing allows people to choose what they can afford; those who can pay more help subsidise access for those who cannot, helping keep creative opportunities open and accessible to a wider community.
