Open to all young people (under 18) – no experience required.
You might be surprised to learn that in this series we won’t be looking at Shakespeare, Wordsworth, or Keats – sorry teachers! During ‘Not Taught In Schools: Visual Poetry and Beyond’ you will recycle Lizzo lyrics and WhatsApp messages into poetry, explore collage as a visual writing technique, and try your luck at the Instagrammable form of the black-out poem.
This is your opportunity to get creative with words and become a poet!
Week 1: Word Art and Concrete Poetry
Week 2: Black-Out and Erasure Poetry
Week 3: Collage Poems and Cut-Ups
Week 4: Open Mic and Publication
Materials
No need to bring any materials along with you, though you are very welcome to bring your own notepad!
