Life Drawing: Motion and Multiples
A project-led course exploring different ways of understanding and depicting the human form with a range of long and short poses. A life model is present for all sessions. The project for this course is Motion and Multiples and will include drawing the moving figure, depicting sequences, and drawing groups of figures inspired by famous artworks. We will also look at understanding a pose from several viewpoints. A variety of approaches will be covered ranging from carefully considered analytical drawing to experimental gestural methods.

All model fees included.

  • Objective and traditional observation methods
  • Gestural approaches for capturing a pose quickly or drawing the figure in motion.
  • Creating small crowd scenes from drawings of one model.
  • Learning how to situate several figures in perspective within a space.
  • Looking at Cubist and Futurist approaches and Rodin’s sculptures.
  • Learning to make dynamic creative compositions of several figures
  • Working at different scales.
