Job Vacancy – Choir Leader for LM Sound

The Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington, is seeking an inspiring and enthusiastic freelance choir leader for one of its resident community choirs, the Landmark Sound. The contract commences in September 2022. It is a freelance contract and the successful candidate will be responsible for his on NI and Tax.

The Landmark Sound rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings from 19.30–21.00 during term time (usually 12 weeks per term). Most of the group is used to learning music by ear, and some members are able to read music. The group enjoys a challenge and have experimented with a range of repertoire including pop songs, folk songs, jazz and world music.

The Landmark Sound performs at least one big concert a year at the Landmark (jointly with our other resident choirs), and often organises termly showcases. They also enjoy performing elsewhere and, for example, in November 2015 performed at Hampton Court Palace as part of the Sing 500 community project. However, it should be noted that performing is no the primary focus of the choir.

The conductor mostly leads from the piano, but an accompanist can be occasionally booked (also for concerts). Please note all administration and publicity is done by the Landmark office. The renumeration for this role is £110/rehearsal (including setting up/preparation).
